After my last post about marks on my sensor I couldn't seem to remove, regardless of which cleaning kit I tried, I called Canon and got directions to the service center in NJ. Aside from the misery of driving on the NJ TP which makes a a half hour trip take an hour, no problems finding the location.
I bring the camera in, explain the problem, and the girl says "Well, let's make sure it's not a dirty sensor; can you wait half an hour?" To which I respond in the affirmative with a ferverent hope it's just a dirty sensor.
40 minutes later she's back with the body and a clean bill of health along with an invoice for a whopping $0.00.
"We clean the sensor and the viewfinder as a courtesy. If you have an hour, just bring it in up to an hour before we close and we will clean it for you, no charge."
Big thumbs up to Canon Customer Service.

I'll have to remember that. It might be worth the hour drive for a free thorough cleaning.

You say the drive from Bucks county to the service center took about 1 hour?. I'll be in Bucks,Pa in Sept. I may want to take that drive.
Thanks

NJ is a bit far for me! I finally got the nerve to blow my 30D sensor and lost a dozen specks and two blobs .... still got a couple more glibs (what ever that is) Hope the sensor cleaning kit I have on order will take care of them.

I wonder if the Irvine Center will do the same?

It's right off of exit 8A on the NJTP; 37 miles from me in lower Bucks. Elsewhere in the county would probably be further, but still under 90 minutes.

Free sensor cleaning is noted to be a policy for drive-in owners for a few years now. US customers that is.

Does anyone know if there is this type of service in the Denver area by chance? What would I search under?

In Melbourne, Canon said that they don't do free sensor cleans, but they did it for us anyway to be nice but said not to expect it again.

There are only two service centers in the US that service dSLRs and they're in Jameburg, NJ and Irvine, CA. Sure would be nice for a lot of folks if some of the other facilities located more in the middle of the country would service dSLR, too, wouldn't it?
But, by the same token, I can't drive up my S2IS to Jamesburg to get it serviced. I'd have to ship it to Illinois to have that done.
