View Full Version : Need Pointers to take photos in offices

I have been asked to take photos of people in a very dynamic project we are working on. Most people are in offices and move between various meetings (formal and informal ones).

I would like to take photos that would portray 'real-life' moments. The environment is such that I cannot take my dear time to set up the camera to capture a moment (setup tripod, light settings on camera, repositioning people, etc).

My concern is that I am not a professional, and do not mess up such things as lighting, etc.

I have a Canon Powershot S30 camera.

Any pointers/guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

Can you have time before the day to do some test shots? Take note of what works and what doesn't. Watch for glass or other reflective surfaces in the background of your subjects.
For the best shots, try to make yourself invisible, so to speak. People are best shot when they don't know they are posing.

Borrow a 10D camera from a friend with a fast (1.4 or 1.8) 50mm lens. With a point & shoot camera in the hands of an amateur the task seems too daunting.
