View Full Version : Shutterpoint: What can you do with only 50MB?

I've been thinking about joining Shutterpoint, but to me the storage space available is WAY too little.
A good resolution JPEG is 1MB. Even at the highest 100MB level, that's only 100 pictures you can put up for sale... what if you have hundreds?
An up-rezed JPEG or TIFF would be much larger...

I think you are confusing web resolution so that your customers can view, against what you need to print. Unless you want them to be able to download and print themselves.
FYI, I have 100mb of storage which is not quite full and currently have 12,743 images online.

Ohhhhhh..........
So what shutterpoint does is give you 50 or 100MB to store web resolution photos, and when someone wants to buy one, they contact you and you email them the full res picture?
So basically all shutterpoint is is a way to get traffic and exposure (no pun intended).

I dont actually use Shutterpoint, I use a hosting company and run my sites totally in house as it gives me more control.
Images are uploaded at about 32kb in size, and the websites software notifies me by email of orders which are printed from files stored on our server. The customer does not have to do anything other than give a name/delivery address/credit card number unless they choose a different payment method (Paypal or check). Look at one of the sites I quote and see for yourself.
My point was that you do not need to store images online at full resolution.

Thanks for the reply. Anyone else with actual Shutterpoint experience?
