Just a quick note to all shopping for high dollar cameras on ebay, be very carful....This is a response from an ebay scam auction. I was inquiring about the "Pre Approved biddres list" Scary and funny at the same time, Free 2nd day air from ROMA Italy, that alone would be $2000 dollars.......Notice too, there is no reference to a camera just the "Item" buyer beware.

HI ,
Thanks for your email.
First you have to know the item is available on Ebay, but the bidding is restricted.First reason is i had many problems with bidders in the past.I think they allways like to bid but not all the time like to buy.The auction is a buy it now one so,only one person can buy it.So i want to be sure the one wich will be the buyer. For that, you need just to be agree with my condition and the item will be yours.
The product is brand new, completly working and very performant ,in unopened box, comes up with all accessories and the unit has international transferable warranty from the manufacturer.I will send you in the package an original invoice with all the papers (warranty,insurance...).The price is 2000 USD ,shipping and handeling included.
Payment will be done via Western Union money transfer and shipping thru UPS 2 days.
As soon as the package arrives, you will test the item and if it does not matches 100% to your expectations, you will return it in max. 15 days sience the arrival date. In this case I will send you the full amount back and you will send me the product in the original box and you don“t have to pay the return shipping and insurance.
Please reply me asap if you agree all your dates in order to close the deal.
Now I am in Italy in a bussiness travel because I have here a shop.
Here is my name and address:
Bob Ronald
Via Lombardia 47
ROMA 00187

All the best!

I would RUN as soon as I saw this.

Unlike with checks, money orders, credit card transfers or other normal banking methods, there is NO way to track money sent via Western Union.

You might as well just put the cash in an envelope...

LOL this is such a scam... I emailed on a private auction for my 300D and got the same canned response a month or so ago. Nice trip... several months in Italy. I wanna work for his company.

Oooh I want a REAL 1Ds and 2 lenes for $2k cheaper than the the 10D with lenses... argh... lol Well I love my 10D... but if I had the money a 1Ds wouldnt hurt... unless I just like you know mailed the money and never got the camera... that would be bad... which is what would happen.

I've gotten emails from people on eBay that had better deals, and I've seen the ones that have the "restricted" bidders lists. 99.9% of the time these are from hijacked accounts and of course they have no camera or "item".

Anytime I've contacted eBay about this, they'ave always gotten back to me and every single time it HAS been a hijacked account.

I bid once on a legitimate auction and I must have gotten something like 8 emails from others telling me of their great offer. Most didn't speak English very well and had exceptionally poor grammar. One kept repeating that they would let me "probe" the camera for 10 days. (I only had to send half the amount and then they'd ship the camera...yeah, right...)

There are so many scam artists out there...and just as sad...I am sure there are many who fall for it!
