Help on two things:
1)How to save 300 plus pictures on to a cd then play back to insure that this was in fact saved. The process is not intuitive for me. I can save the data files successfully but not the actual image.

2)How to play this cd in a dvd player as a slide show.?The player is set for
CD-RW or DVD.

Thank you...ok to reply directly to my e-mail if desired.

I'm a bit confused about the first part of the question.. ie: data being saved but not the actual image?

What program do you use to view your images?

If your CD is a succesfull one,. you should be able to open any of the image files (which is the same as the data) directly from the CD. If you can not then you have a problem.

As far as the second part of the question.. creating a slide show.. this is a different type of CD you will need to make. Just backing up the data to the CD will not create a disk that will be veiwable as a slide show on a DVD player or CD-ROM dirve. You will need a CD-R authoring program that will make a picture cd for you.

I have not actually made one of these myself so I am not 100% sure but I believe most CD-R software will have an option to make such a disk.

Good information...thank you. My program is Canon Zoombrowzer. When using the backup process I am cautioned that the data is backed up but not the image. Apparently the images are in a .zbd file.

For the slide show I am going to try to use my Adaptec video to VCD program to make the necessary slide show. If that does not work I guess I will start from scratch and see what is out there. It would be much better to just creat the slide shows by topic on a CD then to do a seperate back up of 100's of images.

Thank you

What you're trying to do is two different things.

First your backing up the database of pictures. This can later be 'restored' but won't likely be usable from the CD other than to restore the database.

Second you want to view images off the CD. For this function you need to have seperate images on the CD.

Use two disks if you want to perform both functions (one for backup/restore plus another for viewing.)

If you're just interested in tossing the selected images onto a cd, and then viewing them, copy the images on to the CD using a CD copy program (to either set up the CD for copying, or to actually copy the files.)

Thanks, that was the trick. I have just successfully used Adapatec Showbiz to create a slide show. The program sets up the necessary parameters automatically for playback on a DVD player that accomodates cd-r and rw.

Your welcome. Enjoy your show.. It's something I should try too. Might be neat.

Just to update you...the placement of the slides on a cd was successfull, however, it would not play on my dvd player although the conversion of old video tapes does play. I guess I will have to find a stand alone slide maker that works.

Thanks

Answer = Nero

It has a checkbox you can tick to 'verify' written data, and u can make a cvd which is playable in most dvd players with pics and videos.

If you want the pictures back then u'll have to burn 2 cd's.

I've yet to try irfanview to save pictures, it does use a nero plugin.

But to put images on a cd i wrote a program to do it myself (except the burn and thumbnail parts). But the burn is simpl,e copy all files in a folder, and the thumbnail is a batch job done with another program. It works but is not yet complete.
