i was under the impression that hard drive CF cards are faster than flash flash memory. That sales lady @ circuit city tell me otherwise. Can anyone confirm?

also, i just got a rebel xt and a 4gb seagate photodrive. I've read about the compatability issue between the 2 firmwares and my questions are:
1) Has anyone dealt with seagates warranty department on this issue and how cooperative are they? Did they exchange it and how fast were they?
When they exchanged it, how did the photodrive perform?

2) would I be better off returning the 4gb photo drive and getting a smaller sandisk card? I was attracted to having all that capacity on one drive but man is this thing slow right now.

thanks

Microdrives are slower than flash memory, and they're also less robust. You may find this listing (http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_page.asp?cid=6007-7699) from Rob Galbraith's site interesting.

My feeling is that Microdrives no longer offer the advantages they once did. Flash based cards have got much cheaper, and the price premium of a flash card over a Microdrive is smaller than ever. That said, they're still likely to be the cheapest card for any particular capacity.

Memory cards are so cheap now, and more robust. Forget the disk ones.
