I have been taking my initial photos using the Large [3.1MB] image recording quality setting on my Rebel.

Is there any advantage to taking photos using the RAW+JPEG setting?

I understand the disadvantage is less shots per CF card.

Thanks.

Shoot RAW.

Wow JMC38...Sit back and get ready for a lot of heartfelt advice. Practice ducking and dodging in the meantime :).

I'll start: have you considered using the Forum's search facility?

RAW will untimatly give you more control over white balance issues and allow you to convert to a large TIF files if you were going to print something massive.

Outside of the ability to apply your white balance "After the shot" you would probably be hard pressed to tell the difference between them and yes RAW will burn your CF card almost twice as fast as "large fine"

It's worth understanding and experimenting with the differnt workflows, if you were shooting for money, I would shoot RAW.

Thanks for the quick responses.

Yes I have but like other boards that I frequent, there may be new posters like myself, who know more than I, that have not posted information that will be found in the archives.

Just a thought...
