I have never been in such a swamp because I am afraid of snakes... indeed ... I was unsettled while reading about how great "Irish Setter" hunting boots would be for tramping through snake country in the Spring and Fall we could use them in the winter).

Back to your picture. It does a lovely job of presenting an almost modern art pattern view of these moss covered trees. The "fine structure" is amazing. The green helps to creat a "peek-through" frame. That said, it is a bit hard to appreciate the scale of the scene, but judging from the tree in rthe middle, I'd guess that the vegetation must be say 100 feet high.

I examined the histogram for your image and it is the closest thing to a "Bell Curve" that I have ever seen. Part of that seems to be due to the fact that shot was taken around noon. Earlier light might have cast more shadows.

I would favour some cropping on all side to reduce the green framing, then increased contrast (curves) to lower the Bell Curve, and a tad more color saturation to bring in a bit of the rusted quills. (Being a G2 owner, I tend to be crop happy ! )

I'd love to see a follow-up image that maybe adds a bayou so that we can sort of be under and looking up at the trees! If you try same, be sure to wear your snake chaos!

Thanks.. I love Georgia... especially Savannah.

Thanks for the comment. The next time I get back to Georgia and the swamp, I'll take some more photos of this area.
