On display?

In your backpack?

In an alloy case?

Just interested to see what people do. My equipment is on a shelf. Probably not a good idea in hindsight!

When I get home I clean if necessary, recharge batteries, download and reformat c/f's and leave it all in the backpack ready to grab next time I want to go out shooting.

As nitsch said, I clean, recharge and empty cards as neccessary, then it is all put back into my bag, and put under my bed, and is ready to grab when needed!

My XT, lenses and flash stay in my backpack near my front door to grab when needed.

My Ti and Rebel 2000 sit in another bag like relics from a former era.

Why? Most studio gear is in the basement in a very tall closet. Camera gear is all in bags put safely away. My kids can't touch anything or else!

Just what I was thinking :);). Here is where I hide my spare key. . . .

My big concern is fungus. So, I keep lenses, body, filters and flash units in a cheap transparent plastic box (like a big tuperware) with some silica gel inside, free from dust and any sort of organic material like bananas, sandwichs, lens hood and so on. Fungus love this things :)

Also, I keep my lenses without caps for the same reason.

Finally, although some modern lenses filter almost all UV light, the box is placed near a window, to allow UV light entrance. Prevention is better than cure.

Right now everything is layed out on my dining room table. Packing up to move. Normally, it all just sits in my lowepro backpack.

To tell you the truth, I've no idea where my 5D and 24-105 is right now...geez. 35L is right next to my monitor, and the 20D and 70-200L IS are together up in my room in my dresser. My flash is being used by my dad, and my Other stuff is in the Kata.

Gah..it's all over. Now...to find that $4k body and lens.

It's all in a bag kept next to the computer. I finally got a backpack large enough to hold all my gear. Lifting it is another story...

Whoa...I read it backwards. You disassembled your gear? that's HORRIBLE! :-( the poor dears.

To top it off, you're carrying a purse. Should I keep going?

Did I mention my wife loves IKEA? My wallet is somewhat lighter today after yet another trip :-)

Oh, I do. Sometimes I take the lenses and stuff them into the woofer and crank up the bass to see if it'll spit 'em out like a canonball. :D

You disassembled your gear? that's HORRIBLE! the poor dears.

Yeah. Makes setting up for the next shoot rrrrrreeeeaaaaallllly time consuming. :D

To top it off, you're carrying a purse.

What? It goes with my shoes... :D

Now that the kids have moved out I took one of their bedrooms and converter it to my gear room. I put a new lockable steel door on the room and some shelving in it as well. I finally have all my stuff in one room.

i reconfigure my gear based on where i am headed. i never take all of it. i have some metal briefcase camera things in a cabinet, and setup my backpack or shoulder bag before every outing.
those metal cases are really nice, and i can lock them so the wife keeps her nose outa there. lol

my gear that is used often (350d 3 lenses, cokin filters, etc) lives in my lowepro slingshot
my film body, and chargers etc live in a Kingchrome case (think pelican box and youve got the right idea)
my tripod lives in my spare room and my monopod gets strapped to my camera bag

In my bag, on a chair, behind my computer. Ready to go!

I do have my 430 flash in a sliplock pouch and a few filters, lastolite reflector and a few other bits and bobs on a shelf alongside me.

Most of my stuff is in my MP-3c camera bag. Before I go out, I will pick the body and a lens or two and appropriate accessories and put in a domke or toploader. Sometimes, I will take out stuff that I will not use and take the MP-3c bag. The stuff that stays behind is out on a shelf in a closet or in the camera bag that stays behind. I don't like this method because my MP3c bag is big and heavy to take everything and I'm always moving stuff from one bag to another.

I used to be one of those neatly organized, ready to go kind of guys. Had all my digital Canon 35mm gear ( 3 "L" lenses) in a backpack, my 645 medium format in a camera bag ready to go and my digital camcorder in it's bag. Unfortunately, ready to go has a down side. One morning I went out to breakfast and was back in an hour only to find I had been burglered. As I was coming in the front door they were going out the back with one backpack, one camera bag and the camcorder bag in hand. $16,000 worth of equipment in three bags.

My equipment now resides in a large humidity controlled gun safe. I load equipment into an appropriate bag ( I have way to many bags) depending on what I intend to shoot. I always have available with me a Canon S45 and Yashica GSN for those nexpected photo opportunities.

Just remember, all neatly packed up and ready to go is a two edged sword!

Most of my camera gear is stored in a chest of drawers.

Holds a lot of gear, with the pull out drawers each piece of gear is easy to get to. Little dust. Out of sight.

I have had this particular chest of drawers pretty much my entire life. When I was a kid about half a century ago, I stored my model cars in it.

This chest of drawers was stored empty in my garage for several years; a few years ago I realized it would be a nice place to store my overflowing camera gear. So, I cleaned it up and put it in a good place in the house.

The chest of drawers was originally a cast off that my Mother and Father rejuvenated, just so I could have a place to store my model cars and parts. I like that chest of drawers.

Enjoy! Lon

Well, the camera and 17-40 are currently upstairs in the kitchen, my bag is in the bedroom with the other lens in it, my battery charger and spare CF cards are down in my office by my computer...flash is in the bag (I hope) but needs to have batteries charged. How's that for all over the place?

If I will not be using it for a long time, I store the short lens and bodies in an air tight box with silica beads. When the beads turn whitish, i just replace them or revive them by drying until it turns blue again. Long lens stays in the original bags (need to get bigger air tight cases).
