Nice capture in bad weather! But I wish you had a wider lens. That thing is so big!

Nice capture of a very beautiful place. I've heard that around 75% of the water is diverted for power plants during most of the year. Can you imagine what it must have been like to see it at 100%?

Can you imagine how much would be eroded at 100%?

I would love to spend a few hours on the edge of Goat Island with my camera!

... or in the caves behind the falls!

1,000 Islands would be a nice photo subject as well!

Due to the immense importance of tourism, no water is diverted from the Falls during daylight hours. Water is instead diverted only at night, sent via underground tunnels and above ground canals, to be collected in manmade reservoirs some 10kms north of the Falls. The electrical generators then feed from these reservoirs on a 24/7 basis. This happens on both sides of the border, by international agreement, with each country sharing 50% of the diverted water.

Love the colours you have here. Looks busy there too.

This shot is whetting my appetite as I will be visiting the falls end of this month.
It's a great shot, there is plenty of water there to cause such a roaring waterfall, well done.

The place looks awesome, I would love to go there one day. The waterfall is huge.

I like the richness of the greens in the shot. It's really nice that you picked a good crop to work with otherwise you can get overwhelmed with the immense size of these falls.

It's too bad now that there's so much mist obstructing a clear view of the Horseshoe Falls on the Canadian side :( . I've heard a lot of theories as to why that is but all I know is, when I used to visit these falls as a kid, there was hardly any mist obstructing a great view and photo op of them.

There is a cafeteria on the Canadian side that has the colored spot lights that you see on the rainbow colored American Falls night photos - I assume they still do it ...

Canadian Horseshoe Falls on a sunny day can give up some really spectacular rainbow shots due to the mist - a photo paradise of sorts!

To give you an idea as to how long its been since I was back home for any length of time - those lights were on the roof and were the old round spot lights .... The 2 things i loved to do when I was over on that side were to see the lights beaming from the cafeteria and an Italian restaurant that was called Mama Mia's - they had baseball sized gnocchi there that were awesome!

The lights are really special. I loved them at night. How long ago was it since you went then?

It was the late 70's - I was living in an old German Commanders mansion about 5 blocks from there!

It was awesome!

Early morning with the bedroom window open - the Cardinals were chirping and the red wing blackbirds were squawking and the falls was roaring in the background ...

Natural Orchestration!

Beethoven had nothing better than that!

the air was sweet and crisp with a touch of the fresh pine that was near the window ....

I miss it so bad! I was originally raised in Depew just outside of Buffalo - spend a lot of time around the falls used to love the Arboretum in Niagara Fall (USA) too!
