Does anybody know where I can get a Free or OpenSource Tiff Reader for 16 bits. This would be used to read a Tiff from the Canon EOS 10D. Thanks

You didn't specify the operating system. If you're on Windows, trying searching google for 'tiff viewer windows'. If you're on a UNIX/Linux system, xv is one possibility.

BTW, the 10D doesn't output TIFF natively. You can only generate a TIFF from a RAW file using FVU, Photoshop CS, Adobe Camera Raw plugin, or Capture One, for example.

If you have a 10D, then Photoshop Elements 2, which comes bundled with it, can also read TIFF.

I don't understand why a free (probably lower quality) raw converter would be used after spending a lot of cash on the camera.... just MHO tho...

I don't need a viewer, I already have that. I need something that'll tell me what each byte holds for the RGB values. And yes the EOS 10D does only take RAW and JPEG but using their SDK you can convert it to 16 bit Tiffs. Does anybody know anything that will help me determine the RGB values where I dont' have to write my own reader.

I believe ImageJ can provide tables of RGB values from a TIFF - seems like that's what you're after, right? I played with it doing some lens testing and I think it does that. Anyhow, Norm Koren's site might lead you to one that meets your need
