I took some photos this weekend of the CBVA Mens AA in Ocean Beach. The marine layer was pretty thick in the morning, so I dropped the shutter down to about 200. As a result, some of the pics had blurry balls or arm swings. Note to self do not shoot action sports photography (especially volleyball) at a shutter speed below 500. I think 800-1000 is the best way to go.

These aren't bad at all. I'm sure 1/500 would have worked better. Next time up the ISO a bit to get a faster shutter. I like your subjects, by the way. ;)

I am using an Canon S3 IS, point and shoot. It is a nice camera but has gotten some knocks for image distortion at higher ISO's. Usually I put the shutter up between 500 and 1000 and leave the ISO at 100. Does that seem like the wrong way to go?
These are the first pics that came out badly with this camera. All other photos have been surprisingly nice. I want an SLR, but can't afford it right now.
