I've not been very impressed with the macro capabilities on the G3. My main gripe is that I can not get nearly as close to objects as I was able to with my Nikon 4300. I really enjoy taking close-up shots of flowers, insects, water droplets, etc.

I know that many of you have a lot of experience in this area and have tried a lot of add-on lenses. Which one do you think gives significant magnification and the greatest clarity? Any thoughts or links to comparison tests would be appreciated.

Try the 'reversed lens' method

Or try close up lenses. Just get one of the adapters from Lensmate and then the appropriate size filter.

I've done macros with my G3 and some Hoya close up lenses and they come out quite well.
