I want to take my vacation photos and burn a DVD slideshow with titles. I have seen various software on the Internet but would like some recommendations.
Someone on the trip uses software by ArcSoft but it is pretty expensive.
Thanks

Check out "tucows.com" or "nonags.com" for shareware or freeware.
I downloaded "iview" from tucows and it works quite well as a slide-show application. It was a freeware program.

I use PhotonTV ( http://www.photontv.com/ ). It costs $49, but it does the best job of any software program I've seen.

I have tried several and the best yet is Pro show gold from Photodex.
You can not only make a cd slide show but video slidee shows that play on your dvd player. NOw some dvd player can only read CR RW's and most read CDR but they have a web sight that tells you by DVD Mfg. All newer ones play both.
The next great thing is the amount of different transitions you can have. I just did a photo slide show with 120 pictures and each had it own transition.
Next is once you burn a CD and you make a new show it lets you put it on ther same CD video with a click its title to run. You do not have to run the whole thing. It also lets you make titles slides.
Now the best is you can put audio, music voice onto the show. You have to pick songs for the length of your slides because if you have alot of slides and you auto select it runs slides for a 2 min song.
It does alot more but I have only scratched the surface.
Oh it also builds an exe. file for emailing, it does not need a program to run on your computer and you can set it for how many time a person can view it before it shuts off.
I think its an awsome program. In addition it burns dvds as well.

I've made simple slideshows using Irfanview onto blank CDRs. Works well for distribution to family without computer/knowledge. Irfanview is free and it compiles the files into an executable or playable disk.
