I have the IBM Microdrive 1GB. It takes ~ 170 RAW-pictures if I choose the embedded jpeg to be small in poor quality. ~ 140 if the jpegs are at best quality/size.

The AF-points doesn't put me off, no. If they where to go, then the viewfinder should be expanded DRASTICALLY! It's to small I think :/

I use 256 meg CF cards. They hold around 38-39 RAW images, and don't cost an arm and a leg. 1-gig cards are just too expensive when taking into account possible loss due to carelessness, theft, or failure.

The little red squares are very important. They show where you camera is focusing. You'll get used to them once you understand what's going on in the viewfinder.

HI
I have 2x 512MB CF cards and get about 70ish pics shooting RAW, and over 1000 shooting Small, Regular JPEGS per card.

I have found it can be more distracting if you have the beep on, then the red lights. The help you gauge where what will be in focus. This really can come into play if/when you start playing with Sigma EX or Canon L glass! These F2.8 lenses are cool, but damn expensive!
IMHO, please play with the camera some more, especially if you have shot 35mm. I found there was a decent learning curve there between them. This apllies if you haven't already.

Also, I wish they had eye controlled focus like the EOS 50E/Elan II E. I have semi messed up some shots that coulda been a lot better with eye control. They are only ok, as opposed to WOW!

Cheers from England,
Canuck

I have 2 1gig cards, 2 512's and 2 256's. Oh yeah, and a 96megger on order. :)

I supplement all that with a 30gig Xs Drive and a laptop that has an 80gig drive. My photographic pants are never caught down. :)

2 x 512Mb s (75 odd RAW/card) No probs with the boxes in the viewfinder.

I travel with a laptop with PCMCIA CF reader / 40G HDD to store pics on.

Would recommend two cards having had a 40x 512Mb CF card fail after 5 days use.

Cheers,
Pete
