I cannot comment on the others, but I'm very pleased with the Canon teleconverter. I use it frequently and always with a tripod.

It's quite sharp and, I believe, multiplies the on-camera lens by 1.8.

The wide angle lens by Canon is also excellent, but is an even larger chunk of glass.

I recently purchased the Canon 1.75x teleconverter (TC). Here are my impressions after using it for a short period of time:

1. The lens is large but not heavy. It comes with plastic front and rear lens caps and a soft carrying case.
Holding the camera with the TC mounted is comfortable for the most part. The front lens element is recessed slightly but there are no threads for filters or a lens hood.

2. The TC blocks the AF assist beam, so don't plan to use AF assist in low light. I only use the TC outdoors, so this isn't an issue for me.

3. At full zoom the TC blocks about 80-90% of the optical viewfinder. For good composition you must use the LCD screen, however, with a bit of practice you can still use the viewfinder for quick shooting and get reasonably good results as long as the field of view (and AF target) is not crowded, which will cause the camera to focus on an area/subject you may not see in the optical viewfinder.

4. Image quality seems fine. I didn't do any rigorous testing.

In short the TC adds some marginal range to the camera but slow AF speed and dependence on the LCD screen make quick shooting a chore compared to my Elan 7E with a good EF lens. If you really want a long lens for nature photography, save your money for the Canon D300 or consider the new Panasonic FZ10.

Ok, thank
300D is out of reach to me now...:_(
But, do you have some photos taken with your tele to show us? No tele - with tele - just to show the difference.
Thanks
