Pekka,
As an alternative to groups, could it be possible to limit how many exhibitions OR which exhibitions get displayed.
LIMITING HOW MANY
Like in the Misc Setting/Index Page Settings the number of microthumbs can be set. If the same could be done for the number of exhibitions, it would be nice to set the maximum number of exhibitions displayed and whether they are shown as a random, latest, or popular selection.
WHICH EXHIBITIONS GET DISPLAYED
In the Exhibition Editor, another option in addition to the Password (public or other) would be to allow the public exhibitions to be "displayed on gallery index" and/or "in the general exhibition list" on the list page.
OR In the Exhibition Groups Editor, a default group for the gallery index would allow the admin to select specific exhibitions to be displayed on the gallery index, without having to use the groupindex.php.
The purpose of these new features would be to highlight a select number or a few featured exhibitions on the gallery index.
I've tried using Groups, but it creates too many additional levels to go through to get to the actual images. To use groups just to get to one selected exhibition, adds another level to the viewers visit. If the Group displayed the description text for the specific exhibition and was linked directly to the list page, then it would be a more direct root.
I also tried Password protecting them, though it completely removes them from the exhibition list. I still want to have them displayed in the general exhibition list on the list pages, so that they could be selected and then be prompted for the password. Unfortunately, password protecting restricts access to exhibitions, but it doesn't determine how many or which ones get displayed.
Is there going to be a way in the RC release to only show selected exhibitions on the gallery index or maybe a revised groups solutions.
