This was taken outside my office (home) window on 8/12/06. I have enjoyed trying to capture the feeling of motion the past few weeks. This one was taken with the Canon 100 mm f/2.8 macro. Notice the spider web stuck to the head and beak.

Very nice shot. I do like the spider web. And I like the wing blur while keeping the eye tack sharp! Btw. what species hummer is this?

What a good close up shot of this Hummer and good capture to get this one with a bit of Spiders web attached. Good background and nice details & colour on the bird. It looks to be perhaps the Purple-throated Woodstar and it' has a nice catchlight to the eye, nice one James, well done.

Thank you. I think it is a Black-chinned Hummingbird. I ahve many hummer photos at :

I like keeping the eye and head shrp and letting the rest convey motion.

I will never understand how people are able to shoot hummers with the macro lens, AF is soooo slow. DId you use MF? Impressive in any case!!!
Great job with the hummer! Not too keen on the bg though, it looks a bit like an oil painting.

I saw "hummer in flight" I had to click to see this....... well it is not :)
You did a decent job in harsh lighting but if you just did a bit of post processing ie. clone out the feeder, add saturation, constrast maybe a bit sharpenig you would have a not bad of a hummer shot.

Nice work on this shot and the spider web does add an element. Tomico has a few good pointers BTW.I would love to see this species of Hummer but it won't be in my area as we only have the Ruby Throat ( I am not complaining).
I have recently been using a 400 mm with a 10mm extension tube and this has helped me get closer images of our hummers.

Thanks Gary. I am hoping to get the 300 f/4 L IS in the near future. The birds are about 4 feet from me whan I am sitting at my desk.
