I am not sure if you have a DSLR in mind, but going on a group shoot prior to getting one will allow you to see and possibly use a couple different models and may give you a better idea of the one you want.

Hey, Im looking for some people out here in the Hampton roads/va bch area that might want to maybe go in together to rent a space out for just STUDIO work. I have some gear that I would be willing to leave there, set of light, LARGE tent, shooting table, couple of backdrops.... But I was wondering if anyone else would think of doing this. Doesn't have to be a store front... Maybe something with a high bay at least for car shots and stuff like that. I would be intrested if we could get several people together to make it worth it.

If you want to come to Richmond, Maymont Park (http://www.maymont.org/) is amazing. Gardens, animals, etc. It is also very close to the river, and there are parks along the river we could go to as well.

our original plan was zoo tomorrow, but it looks like we get our car back form having guarantee work done, Ive been driving a rental this few weeks, they cant give us a time the car will be ready apparently, which is a huge pain in the back side, considering they have had the car almost three weeks...
Hopefully ill have some nice pics, im still reverting to my manual alot of the time. I did shoot on manual instead of AV last night at the local cit center, pics came out ok.

yeah there is a lacking in this area of photographers,

there were a few canon people at the botanical garden when I went, one man-he was old there with his wife had a 30d, and saw me looking through the telescope at the eagle nest and asked if I wanted to try out his lens (oooer that sounds dirty LOL)

He was nice and had his lens attached to his tripod (it was big not sure what it was) and we had a nice chat, my pictures sucked though LOl, but it was fun trying it out the lens.

I definatly wasnt to go to the show, we will see if we can get a small group maybe?

Harbour fest two years ago my now hubby proposed to me on the spirit of norfolk boat,:) we watched the festival fireworks from the boat after he proposed-or before I forget now LOL

I may go for the fireworks as I want to get some practice for the 4th July not sure if I will make it as I volunteer at a cat shelter in the day and its the bi yearly fundraiser got to be there at 6am :(

The people at the club are very friendly, a good mix of age groups too. Some very knowledgable photographers there. Met quite a few on local photographer walks through the daily press (http://www.dailypress2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33777) also keep an eye out for vaphotogs.com- the site is down at the moment as they are reconstructing but it is a local forum which has had a couple of meet ups at a norfolk studio too. The Hampton Roads Club is on a school grounds, I drove past it several times before figuring out where it was- you got to turn into the school and drive to the back of the parking lot then its the building on your right. defiantly go I recommended it, even though I didn't stay a member.

This was our Bullitt-admittedly I have never seen the movie (blame it on the fact I am from the UK and my hubby is the car guy lol) We now have a 2005 CTS-v which I love and hate, love the ride hate the maintenance costs lol

Doesn't TCC have a photography course? I know for a fact there some people provide them, I have friends that took one. Keep looking around.

BTW. I've recently moved to a farm in Nebraska, 30 minutes south of Omaha. Anybody here? I suppose I should ask in a different thread.
