One thing that I like about the 1 series cameras is the 100% viewfinder. I gather the 5D viewfinder crops a few percent, like the 10/20/30D do.

Does anyone find that an issue? Do you ever get things in the picture that you didn't see in the VF?

its 96%, but it is bigger and brighter than the similar bodies 20d/30d/rebel

5d view is larger, but the 1 series is much better to look through. More 'clear' and 'crisp' without the yellowy tinge of the 5d.

A little, sure. Sometimes I'm picky and try to account for that. Most of the time, it just gives me room to crop a tad, which I like.

I've only done one shoot with the 5D, but the viewfinder is nice and bright. I was shooting with a 1DMkIIN during the same excursion and going back and forth between the two cameras wasn't an issue with regards to brightness/eye relief/image crispness.

I quickly got used to viewfinder size of both the 350D, 20D and 5D. I just crop a bit harder when taking the shot and never found it to be an issue.

I did notice a difference, in viewfinder quality, going from 350D to 20D and I know people make a big fuzz about it, but the difference between 20D and 5D made lesser impact on me.

I cannot comment on the 1D series, but i doubt if it will make much difference to me.
