I got my CF994 tripod. All I can says is this is a big improvement over my old $30 tripod :)
I'm very pleased with it. It looks very pro and I didn't have to spend $1000 for a tripod/head system. The leg locks are a little bit of a pain (my old cheap tripod uses levers) but I think I can live with it.

My stupid question: It comes with a strap. How do I attach this strap to the tripod?

Also, can I buy the RSS L bracket and have it work with this tripod? Anyone know?

Thanks.

RRS uses the arca plate standard, so you will need to buy a ball head, etc with an arca-type clamp (if you don't have one) to clamp the RRS L bracket.

RRS, Kirk and a few others have arca type plates.

The strap has a threaded metal attachment on one end. This screws into a tapped hole in the tripod at the top of the legs.

You form a loop on the other end with the small ring, and put this around all three legs, near the bottom, like a noose.

The best place to position the bottom loop is just after the threaded feet begin, this creates sort of a recess between where the threaded feet begin, and the round pieces that holds the rubber friction feet in place.

The legs are actually easy to use once you realize there is a correct and simple sequence for extending and retracting them.

Read this post for my explanation on how to extend and retract them in a manner that works great. Just set down with the tripod and read my explanation. I think you will see that the tripod not only looks great, it also works nicely.
