Hi guys,
Is chromatic abberations & purple fringing really evident on this lens? Im getting dissapointed considering its popularity and ofcorse the price! i thought APO will reduce it?
you can see the photos here: http://www.pbase.com/tekgik/test
should i return it?
thank you very much!

I was pretty shocked by your pictures :/ I'm considering this lens myself. It'll either be this or the 70-200mm f/4L. I hadn't seen any review mentioning this. I would have mailed the pics to Sigma to see what they think.
BTW: Thanks for great shots of the lens itself. Really nice to see it's physical size against the 50mm.

No that's not normal. I have to try really hard to see any CA at all.

Just to go somewhat further.
To my knowledge CA does NOT improve when stopping down.
Out of interest are the shots on your site at 100%?
Is there a filter on the lens?
Was the camera on a tripod?
What did you use to process the RAW file - assuming it's RAW?
Have you tried the lens on another body?

Almost all of your images look like they have problems. I wonder if there could be something on the CMOS? I'm no Sigma fan but that lens is a lot better than this.

DaveG,
thats what i suspect that my DR is the prob. But how come that my kit lens and 50mm 1.8 have none of this? I guess telephoto lens are prone to this? I tetruned my lens already and waiting for their evaluations till friday. I hope it would be ok by then!
i really want to like this lens! Here's some of my shots with this lens! http://www.pbase.com/tekgik/motorsportsfest
