d30 flash problems

hi

i took some basic pictures with the d30 built-in flash and a canon ef 28-105 lens with a petal shaped hood i noticed that i have a half circle dark shadow on all these pictures is this probably caused by the lens hood?

as it went when removed it?

Cannot use a “long” lens with the built in flash. Canon cameras are especially susceptible since the built in flash does not pop up very far. Long lenses need external flash units like the 550EX or 420EX.
