Nope.. i was at the end of the jetty taking pictures of a lifeboat going up and down and they came up to me and asked me if i was working for the newspaper.
I told them no and they asked me if i could take a picture of them.. didnt want to offend thdem so i snapped these two and went back to shooting the lifebaot

Here's a guy I ran into down on the boat dock... he said something to me which I didn't hear and asked him to repeat it... he said "Take a photo of me". So I snapped off about 20 different shots and thanked him. He said "When you see me down here again give me one"... I've been down there many times but still haven't seen him... I'll keep looking... :)

I like the selective color photo of him. Wonder if you'll ever see him again.

...a shot of some kids at a Cajun music festival who asked for a photo. I told them how they could see the result on-line but I have no idea if they ever did.

The gal on the right wanted her photo taken with the Drag Queen who was performing in a local downtown park. I took a few shots and the gal gave me her e-mail address. I sent her a couple of the images but never heard back from her... I can only assume she got them...

Funny... Happened to me recently, first time also. Was caught totally off guard. Was walking around the campus, and she asked me to take her picture, while she was on the phone... So I did of course.
Gonna meet her Monday to give her a print.

What an interesting thread. I never had anyone over the age of twelve ask me to take their photograph. You all did nice jobs.
Now to show what a sheltered life I lead: What is the meaning of the signal being flashed by the girl in the 1st shot posted by Stavhp -- second &fourth fingers extended?

Here's mine.
Taken at Northampton Balloon Festival last week. I had a hi-vis vest and press pass, they came and asked me to take their photo.
I gave them my card so they could see it online.

if you havent, go to times square. if you're there with anything bigger than a 50 you'll probably get asked once or twice, usually prefaced by the obligatory "you look like you know what you're doing" and your adamant denial of having any photography skill whatsoever.
usually its a family or couple with point-and-shoots, and i try to look through the viewfinder like a moron until I realize my mistake.
I don't mind doing it, but im usually not optimistic about what they'll think of the results. I know i don't like the results usually, mostly because a) I don't get to choose the settings b) it's a camera ive never used before c) i don't choose the spot or subject
d) they have very high expectations because they think you're amazing if you have a real camera

Before I read your post I was looking at that picture going... "there is something WRONG with that woman!"
LOL!
