This is the seed head on this cultivar/ornamental grass. Wild type is a serious pest in Florida and probably elsewhere in the Southeastern US.

I was trying out my new Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 lens. Operation is a little different from the Canon EF's, but I think I am going to like it. Nice bokeh. Fast. AF makes more noise than the Canon USM lenses, but it's not really bothersome.

Nice picture Dale. Its pretty staggering, the number of lenses and argument for or against each one. I want a lens with nice bokeh but I cant make up my mind which one to get. I spent the last 3 months working in miami and found out you got way more serious pest then that grass. Gators at the job site in the mornings and on the weekends at the glades as soon as I cast my lure in the water they came out the wood work.

Thanks, Eric. I really don't consider the gators pests unless people have been feeding them. Then they are dangerous pests. The grass is a huge problem. It not only crowds out native plants, but the roots produce a chemical that prevents other plants from growing with the grass.
