Well, new week, new problem.

Thanks for those who helped me before, even though the system corrected itself (after re-booting a few dozen times).

Now, my camera (A60) is working fine, very happy with it, just what I need.

I can download fine, using ZoomBrower (although I prefer ACDSee).

One problem: I'm not sure how to disconnect. No matter what way I do it (shut off camera, then disconnect cable, or reverse), my system freezes.

Its WinDoze98 SE, and it mostly works.

What am I doing wrong, or should I just RTFM?

Thankee.

I don't think this will help you, but make sure you don't unplug it with Win98 in sleep or suspend mode.

I much prefer using a card reader. If that is an option for you, an inexpensive cf usb card reader will work fine. Just don't remove the card from the reader while Win98 is in sleep or suspend. Don't remove any USB device while the computer is in that state.

maybe make sure that close all software that was accessing the camera first as well?

Use a card reader or upgrade yourself to a more stable OS such as Windows 2000, XP, or if you have an inner geek, Linux. A Windows 2000 upgrade should do wonders for you and should be relatively cheap. It has the same look and feel of Win98, but is very stable.

There are so many variables as to why your computer is crashing. If you are getting any specific errors that show up as messages, copy down the information and look it up in the Microsoft Knowledge Base at www.microsoft.com. Sometimes, actually most of the time, it's some crappy driver conflicting with something else that is causing your crashes.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Pradeep1!

Actually, I did both. I received a SanDisk cardreader for Christmas, and I treated myself to Windows 2000. Solved all my problems with USB connections. Printer and camera working fine.

Now, stay tuned for questions on my A60!
