I'm using version 1.22
I've defined the microthumb. thumb folders
etc
please check my setup at http://files.tdsuo.com/gallery/XXXXXXXXXX/index.php
under path editor
http://files.tdsuo.com/gallery/original/
is defined as the high quality path.
I don't NEED others.(yet).
I'm just thinking of maybe thumbnails, 600x400 and original size only.,
---
the thing is, I don't know WHERE to upload my own .JPG files to.
I tried putting it in http://files.tdsuo.com/gallery/original/
to no effect.
http://files.tdsuo.com/gallery/original/IMG_6076.JPG
http://files.tdsuo.com/gallery/thumb/IMG_6076.JPG
http://files.tdsuo.com/gallery/microthumb/IMG_6076.JPG
all exist but cannot be picked up by the software.
I'm not exactly sure what's happening.

Firstly, you probably shouldn't post your input path! Your leaving yourself open to hackers
Why aren't you installing 1.5? It uses FTP to upload the photo's its easy to use.
Software can be found here.

I recall that with 1.22 you needed to have .file extensions in small caps:
.jpg works
.JPG does not
(IMHO this is only one of five thousand other reasons to install v.1.5)

Well, I'm using 1.22 as well... My reason for still using it is that I'm not sure which is the next fully supported version. I mean, which is the version from which there will be upgrade packages from etc. Looking at http://photography-on-the.net/ee/, isn't 1.22 THE current version, or?

Sorry about the confusion.
Well, on the website 1.22 is the current version, but there has been 1.3RC which ruled for many months and never got to actual release version (that is why it is not on EE site). Now version 1.5 is still beta, and very soon release candidate. Soon after RC it will be "release version".
Reason I recommend 1.5 beta 5 is that it contains lots of new features which are indeed useful and it makes your life much easier. Beta 5 is very close to what release version will be, and there are no big bugs in it. I have been running it on my site and there has been no problems.
1.22 is the last freeware EE, all subsequent versions are "nonag" (currenly $35) shareware. This will mean in practice that 1.22 support will gradually fade away.
Info on the betas, updates, paying, using, customizing is scattered on this forum, I'm aware it sucks but these situations will be corrected very soon.

Good. The most important question for me: If I start to use 1.5b5, shall I be able to install the final version on top of it without backwards compatibility problems? Is there a way to upgrade from 1.22 to 1.5b5? (Sorry if this is a frequently asked question, a link to frequently given answer is appreciated.)

"nonag", "$35", "info" and "very soon" sound very, very good to me. Thanks!

I would also like an answer on this question, and I am also curious if the new FTP upload functionality in IE 1.5 works in a safe mode restricted PHP environement.
I use EE 1.22 now since April, it's working great without problems (although it did take me some time to discover that EE 1.22 only recognises small caps jpg extension while my photocamera standard exports with all caps JPG extension) and really have to compliment Pekka on the code. Personally I only use the script for simple use, so I do not use most of the more advanced information options, but it was the only script I found online at the time which I was able to install at my website without getting all kinds of PHP error messages and safe mode restriction conflicts.
Because of my experience with other scripts I am not eager to change a working script. I am only planning to upgrade when the new version works (or can import) with my old database and does not need new additional software installed on the webserver or results in safe mode restriction errors. I have no control over the PHP environement my hosting provider installs (other than changing hosting provider of course ;-) ), so if the new EE version would need new elements I prefer staying with the old version.

Yes, EE 1.5 will work in safe mode. Yes, there will be updaters which preserve all data.
Basically why EE 1.5 is much better than 1.22 is that it takes the manual work out from adding images and camera data, it also has much better tools for handling and editing the data. The public interface is more robust, better looking, easier to customize and also fully multilingual.

With regards to the 1.2 > 1.5 upgraders, are there any links to where they can be downloaded? I've been browsing around and reading up older posts, but can't seem to find any that point to those upgraders. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks there loupgarou, but excuse my next question, being unfamiliar with the use of such programs and upgrades etc.
Do I download the fix packs in their respective orders, and do what it says there? I didn't download those since I saw '1.5' in the names, and I thought that it was only for v1.5. Sorry... I'm a little lost.

Dang, I did not realize this. I sent you a paypal the other day, I think it was $30, but I didn't even realize EE was shareware. Actually, I never received a reply from either paypal or you. Did you receive it?

Consider yourself having a registered EE :)

Can someone please help me out?
I went to http://photography-on-the.net/ee/beta, and those packs I see there seem to be for 1.5 only.
I am using 1.22, and would like to upgrade, but do not know how. I downloaded fix pack 1 and uploaded the files within but I keep getting errors... looks like I wasn't supposed to do that.
All I'd like to know is how I should go about upgrading 1.22 to 1.5... thanks a lot in advance.
