I took heed of some advice on the forums and tried RAW today for the first time. Attached are some of the pics I took here in Galway even though the weather was a bit pants. I have done nothing to the pics other than making them suitable for web and a slight crop on one of the waterfall pics.
What do you think??
EDIT: I attached the pictures instead of having them included within the thread - makes for better viewing.

I like the compositions very much.
In No.1 I might crop the wall from the right of the image. On both the waterfall shots there's a lot of blown highlights, particularly the second. Its very difficult to avoid, I know :) . Have you tried using a polariser? It helps reduce the blown highlights and acts as a ND filter.

Mike:
Totally off topic, but the phrase "the weather was a bit pants." is intriguing. What does it mean?
Thanks, from an American Cousin (my grandparents emigrated to Canada from Dublin).

I have already cropped out the wall to the right and it does look tons better, thanks for the advice there. With regards to the filter, I dont own any as yet but am on the lookout

Hi Joe - I forget not everyone else knows the same as I do, it just means the weather wasnt perfect, overcast, rained a little, that kind of stuff - does that help?? :D

Very nice compositions. I especially like the first one, though it seems to need some sharpening and maybe a small curves adjustment to boost the contrast a bit. What exactly did you do for your RAW processing?

Thanks for that. The only thing I did was to crop off more of the water of the river. Yeah I agree it needs to be sharpening.
I'll be honest - I dont know how to use the software properly and am not using it to its full potential yet but I'll get there

Those are pretty good shot. I agree about the wall in the first one. It looks like it could have been interesting to include, but the way you have it doesn't show enough of it to keep. Overall, they're pretty shots though.
