Lens has big time trouble focusing... it goes forth and back for a while... it takes couple of long seconds to get it right... mainly in poor light conditions, but during daylight it ain't fast either :) I bought this lens second hand from ebay, there is a little white hair inside the lens too... what would u advice? and if u have it, do u also have low light focusing problems?
Honestly, I know its a good low light lens, but if u can't get focus right there is no real use :D and I'm not much fun of manual focus, since I don't have good vision myself :P

Focus and build quality are probably the biggest complaints about the nifty fifty.
For the price optically, it's fantastic. But if manual focus is a big problem for you, you might want to consider the 50 f1.4. It's a surperior lens.
For me, I'm happy enough with my 50 f1.8.

well in my case build quality isn't an issue, I've old metal mount version.... looks good no trouble, but focus is an issue... but 300$ for 1.4... :P maybe...
thx for the advice though

Sounds like a possible AF issue. I'd say if it has the same problem on another body, then you may have to have the AF repaired. However, I tink if it's the AF problem, it should be slow regardless of the indoor/outdoor thing. Have you tried cleaning the lens contacts first?
