View Full Version : A80 aperture control: real mechanical iris?

Dear all,

I'm thinking about whether to buy an A80 or an S400... one big advantage of the A80 is the manual controls, but I'm wondering whether the camera has a real old-fashioned mechanical iris to allow real depth-of-field effects in 'Aperture Priority' mode? Does it just have a gray filter like the S400?

Maybe someone who's got one could have a look and tell us...

Thanks in advance!
Matthew

Real Iris - and it works! It's also the shutter though, so you can't use the fastest shutter speeds at the widest apertures - but I guess that won't bother you.
