Hey guys, the stangest thing started happening to my photos taken with my A85 over the weekend. As far as I know, the camera has never been dropped or abused. Here is what the pictures are starting to look like.

Has anyone seen this before and if so, what can I do to fix the problem. Thanks for the help.

Could be the card or the reader/transfer cable, or the camera. Do they show up this way when you review them on the camera? Is this happening for all photos? Have you got a second card you can try? Direct-from-camera vs. card reader for transfer?

hey jon
this happened to about 50% of the pictures i took this weekend. you can see the "lines" on the display before you even take the pictures. i was hoping that the pictures would come out okay and that is was just something wrong with my display on the back of the camera. i am using a scandisk ultra II card and using a card reader to transfer the images off the card onto my computer.

thanks

If you're seeing them on the screen before you take the picture, then it's time to either send it to Canon or (if it's out of warranty) get a replacement. If you get it repaired out of warranty, the cost will be a fair part of what a new, comparabler resolution, camera would cost, but without any of the generational advances. OTOH, there aren't a lot of Canon P&S in production that still take CF cards.
