New member.
I Want to move from Fuji S602 to Digital SLR. Looked at 2nd hand D30 or D60 (10D = Divorce!!!)
Read all the reviews and am swayed towards D60 at £680 but tempted by D30 at £399.
Don't want to buy D30 and then wish I had got the D60 (again possibly = Divorce - already have Minolta Dynax x2 Fuji x2 Bronica x 1)
Any help to point me in the right direction welcome.
Many thanks

Definitely the D60. Hands down. You'd be disappointed at 3mp. The D30 is a fine camera, but the D60 is so much more.

I have a D30, and I like it a lot. Got it before the D60 came out. My advice "go for the divorce"!!!!
Just kidding of course.

How much for the D60? If it is in the $1000 range another option would be the D Rebel...Dean

I had the same choices to make a few months ago. I went with the D60 because it gives more options when it comes to print size. Although I've never used the D30, I was told at the time the D60 autofocus was a little better. I also like the fact that the LCD on top lights up unlike the D30 for dark situations.
If you can swing it, I would say go for the extra megal pixels. I am very glad I did. Now I feel like I have a few more options when shooting and printing.
Good luck

I have a D30 and a 10D.
While the 10D is a much more competent camera, I wouldn't badmouth the D30. With a D30 you can take twice as many pics on your CF card, and with the money you saved you can get another lens as well!
Have fun with whatever you pick.

The important question is: What lens(es) are you planning to buy? You should rather look at the package camera + lens. In this respect the 300D kit is unbeatable. The lens is crappy plastic but performs amazingly well. The body is featurewise crippled vs. 10D but picture quality is comparable (=outstanding).

I just bought the D60 several months ago. The salesman had to get rid of it. Great camera. I am new to photography and have taken great pictures with this camera to date. I would suggest the D60. You probably do not want to go that far back technology wise. The d60 is already about 1.5years out of date. How out of date is the D30 then. Then there are megapixels. You have to go with the 6.3MP. Trust me. The MP's on the D30 won't cut it. When you come home from the purchase, just stop at the flower store. It'll be okay.

Both the D30 and D60 are great cameras. And who cares if they are "out of date"? They still, and always will, take the same great pictures as the day they came out of the box no matter how out of date they are.
