Eyes CC Please!!

This is my daughter, the first one is the original, and the second is my attempt at pp with photoshop elements 4.0. I just found out where levels were and played with that, but I'm not exactly sure what it is. I just got photoshop this weekend. I don't know what anyone else thinks of the crop or the black and white, but I love it and have one hanging in the hallway. Please feel free to edit. I need all the input I can get. Thanks!

Here is an edit I really wanted to try...
Adjusted contrast, slight levels, slight saturation, sharpened. Created a second layer, sharpened and leveled the second layer. Created a mask on the first layer and brought the sharpened eyes through from the second...

Levels: In Photoshop go to Image, Adjustments, Levels. In Elements go to Enhance, Adjust Lighting, Levels.
It allows you to adjust the levels of the histogram. I'm sure someone on here can give the scientific explanation. My advice is to try it out, play around, you'll love what it does...
