Installed Paint Shop Pro 8.1. Used to use version 7.02.

Everything works fine, except when I right click on a file in Windows (2000) explorer and do a "Open With" Paint Shop Pro. It opens PSP, but does not open the file, but insteads goes into some browsing window.

I then have to manually open the file using File->Open.

Version 7.02 worked fine. 8.1 is giving trouble.

Any thoughts?

I've manually uninstalled the program, wiped the registry of all PSP values, and reinstalled the program. I've even bought the program (instead of using the trial version) and still have the same problem.

I can let you know that it works as you would expect in WindowsXP Home edition. You might want to contact JASC directly and see if they have identified this as a bug associated with Windows 2000.

Good luck,

Scott

Hi pradeep1,

I have XP Home and not 2000, but think it may be screwed file associations.

Have you tried the following (taken from Jasc.com);

There may be a problem with the file associations with Paint Shop Pro.
Try this procedure to reestablish the file associations.

Start Paint Shop Pro.
Choose File > Preferences > File Format Associations.
Make note of all file types associated with Paint Shop Pro.
Choose Remove All to remove associations (answer yes to the prompt),
Close the dialog, then exit Paint Shop Pro.
Start Paint Shop Pro again.
Choose File > Preferences > File Format Associations.
Reselect the file types that were previously associated with Paint Shop Pro or choose the Select All button to associate all supported file types with Paint Shop Pro.
Close the dialog.
Your files should now be properly associated with Paint Shop Pro.

Hope this helps,
