Hi all, I am fairly new to the forums and new to portrait photography. I was asked b a friend to shoot his family on the beach at 10:30 AM. Now, in California, this makes it the worst time to shoot. What i need to knowis this:

What setup should I do? What Strobe/Flashes should I use to fill the shadows, I have only one assistant.

Ideas? any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Meter for the faces & let the sun backlight them. You should get some good bounce fill from the sand, too. See Gavins tips here on shooting straight into the sun:
