Hi,
I have had my A80 for 2 weeks and am very impressed with it. There are 2 questions I hope someone will be able to answer:
Question #1) I took a picture of a picture on the wall, and the picture frame looks bowed out on the sides. Is this a characteristic of the A80? Is there a setting that would prevent the bowing? Is this also a characteristic of the G5? I plan to do lots of family history pictures (family pictures, family documents, etc).
Question #2) I didn't realize the A80 would have a plastic tripod socket. Will this be a problem?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

look at about 5/6th of the way down. They have a barrel distortion test.

Its normal.

Thank you for the information. Other than those 2 things, I really like my A80. Friends have been telling me my pictures are so nice, and asking what camera I used.

You can fix barrel distortion easily in Painshop Pro 8

Thanks. I now realize that after looking at the dcresource.com website, barrel distortion is common to digital cameras and I will need to fix the distortion, rather than get another camera. Glad there is software that will do that.

With over 3500 pix on my a80 i have found very little barrel distortion so far. But you are very wright all cams have some and the a80 has it sometimes in the full wide angle mode.Tealblue
