So many of the threads here are for technical questions, while some are seeking advice, and others just want to argue. I though I would start one just for fun. Any funny stories out there where your camera played a central role? Here is one to get things rolling.
I use to get in trouble with my wife for not noticing little things, like her new haircut, a new dress and the biggie was a new rug that I had been walking on for several days before she pointed it out. I know her expectation was that I would notice these things and comment but I genuinely did not notice. Then one Saturday morning on a whim I shaved off my beard while she was out shopping. My beard does come and go, but at that point I had had it for over two years and granted, it was not a full Grizzly Adams type of beard, more like Orlando’s in Pirates, but it was also noticeable. When she came home, she didn’t notice. I gave her hints like rubbing my now naked chin and we even went out shopping together and later in the evening a party. She had not noticed al day. Later that night I hatched my evil plan. Early Sunday morning I had her take a couple of photos of me, head shots mostly. I even asked that she zoom in on my chin and she snapped the picture while I pointed to it. She did ask what these were for and I told her some photo-shop playing around.
Two weeks later while having lunch with a co-worker I shared this story with him. After hearing my story, he, knowing my wife, bet me that she would know if I had a beard or not even though she did not notice it the day I shaved it off. I took the bet and we proceeded to call her.
I asked “Pat, do I have a beard?”
She answered, “Yes, of course, Why do you ask.”
I answered “thank-you, Joe bet me that you would not know if I did or didn’t” and hung up.
Later that evening when I got home, she looked me square in the face and started laughing uncontrollably. Through her laughter she asked when I had shaved it off. I told her two weeks ago. She was completely unbelieving until I reminded her of the photos she took, the ones where I was pointing at my chin. We both laughed heartily for quite some time and I even got the camera out and showed her the pic. Anyway, we now no longer ever argue when something goes un-noticed or something is just not that important and still have a good laugh over this episode. BTW, she still has the picture of my chin with a finger pointing to it tacked to her office wall. She says it reminds her that it’s the big things that are really important and trivial little mind games never lead to laughter.
