Anyone here experienced this.

I recently noticed that some of my photos had a dark fuzzy spot in one place. My immediate reaction was a dirty lens but it looked fine and after cleaning, it made no difference.

What I have noticed is this, at wide apertures, the spot disappears but at smaller apertures becomes more and more defined, although never sharp.

Since it becomes sharper at smaller apertures, it looks and behaves exactly like a dirty spot but even with careful visual examination into the lens itself, I just cannot see any contamination.

If it was a CCD error I would expect the same result at any exposure setting.

The camera is about 18 months old, taken about 2,000 images and is otherwise flawless. It's never been dropped.

is the spot a little greenish round the edges? it might be fungi... a know somebody who had the same problem. she took it to canon... basically you will only pay for labor.

If it is fungi.... and if you take your camera to the beach a lot, bring it in a plastic bag (zip lock would be better).... make every effort to keep moisture out.
I hope this helps

Cheers,
I hadn't thought of that I must admit. I don't go to the beach much, but this year has been a very humid summer and the problem first started to appear after a 1 month trip to India in the rainy season.
