Hi, I have the following flash:
Sunpak 888 AFZ; it is a TTL flash.
It is very difficult to find specifications on the net, all I found was:
http://www.collegecameras.co.uk/Products.asp?ProductID=508
Well, it worked good with 300D before, now I'm trying to use it
on my 20D but ... it doesn't work the same way!!!
I try it in "M", "Av" modes (worked for 300D) but it seems that
when I shoot, only a very small amount of light comes from the flash ...
anybody can tell me why ?

Hi guys, I apologize because I have posted this without reading well the "EOS flash bible".
I just report this from that guide:
"All current Canon digital cameras with hotshoes - both the interchangeable-lens SLR cameras and the point and shoot digital cameras - support E-TTL only flash metering (or both E-TTL and E-TTL II) and do not support either TTL or A-TTL flash metering. "
So no way it can work with my 20D, I guess it worked with 300D only because I'm a lucky man :)

Hi guys, finally I got a 430ex, so I think that from now I can forget Sunpak issues ... tonight I'll enjoy my new flash!
cheers

The sunpak should work..
anyway. Perhaps if you get an off-shoe adapter and use it manually as a second flash.
As for the compatibility, the reference you found is saying it won't meter, which it won't. Canon Digital cameras use ETTL and ETTL II to meter, and if the flash isn't compatible, then it will pretend it doesn't exist, and meter for no-flash. However, if the flash has a manual mode, then it will still work. It sounds like your not giving it enough time to recycle, or the flashes settings have been changed.

Leo,
the Sunpak hasn't a manual mode, nor other switches at all, so no way to use it manually.
I'm giving lot of time to it to recycle, but the results is always the same, only a small amount of light comes out from it.
I've tried it on the 300d, and it works perfectly. But no way to make it working on 20d.
Thank you for posting :)
