Selecting flash diffusers is a bit more complicated than just buying one IMO. I have several for different situations. So it depends on what you want to do with one. Bounce flash is always good once you figure it out. And you can accomplish lots with an index card and a rubber band.

The model C Sto-fen Omni-Bounce fits the Sigma 500 series flash units. You have to stretch it a bit to get it on the flash head, but it will work as long as you're careful not to damage the flash when installing and removing.

Ditto what Titus said.

I got a Sigma 500 Super and the Stofen model C works fine.

As stated by Surtis, you have to stretch it a bit at start, but after 1 week of using it, it will fit in just fine.

That's all I used for years. Made the camera bag smell good too.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I've never used an external flash before. I ordered the Sigma 500 ST DG. I already ordered a diffuser from ebay, but its probably junk because now Im thinking its not a Sto-fen. Oh well, I was looking for something to use when taking portrait like pictures of friends and family. This is what I bought.

All the Stofen is , is a peice of white plastic that fits the front of the flash,.. if this thing from E-bay fits, then that's 99% of the battl;e won there. I doubt you'll see a difference at all in light/diffusion quality IMHO.

Compared to say a LightSphere or Lumiquest ProMax System the price is great. You can't go too far wrong IMO.

Yeah the Sto-Fen isn't exactly filled with cutting-edge technology. If your Ebay diffuser fits and doesn't fall off, my guess is it'll work just as good.

Actually, be sure to let us know how they fit when it arrives. I don't have Stofenb's for my current flashes, never used the one I used to have often anywyas. But for $8.00 I might grab one :)

I got the diffuser and my Sigma flash. It fits like crap. You have to be super careful putting it on, it almost won't go. I'm hoping it'll get easier as i use it though.

I also got a plastic diffuser from ebay. It came with instructions to put it in hot water for several minutes and when soft, put it on the flash. It worked like a charm. it kept the shape and now I don't have any problem with it.
