Had a good laugh when I saw this photographer on the sidelines of the Clemson-Florida Atlantic college football game today.

What a great capture, I too would love this T-shirt, just to get up my colleague nose who is a Nikon Photographer and constantly boasting about it.

What's that data card taped to the hood of his 300L?
Before today I would've said "LOL That shirt's awesome!" But while shooting some college football in some inclimate weather myself, the one guy who offered me his towel to wipe off my gear was a Nikon shooter. My fellow "Canon shooters" didn't give a damn.

Never did understand why anyone gives a rat's ass what equipment anyone else uses. And, if anything, Lord Malone's experience suggests which shooters might well be the snooty ones...

Try using a nikon for a awhile. You'd wear the shirt.
I have one as my temporary backup camera. It seriously solidified my canonite status.

I've only ever heard one solitary good thing about N****, and yet people say it's why they stay with it. Ergonomics. They say Canon cameras feel awful in their hand, and can't grip it well. Sounds like a stupid reason to choose a brand, but I guess not if it's just a hobby.

Well, I'll take that back. I've heard three good things. Good wide angle lenses, good wireless flash setup, and good ergonomics. Seems like most everything else goes to canon.
Did I miss anything great, Steve?

A good eye, compositional ability and an understanding the fundamentals of exposure.
You got those and you can shoot well with pretty well anything these days. You don't have those and you'll need all the gadgetry you can get to grab an even half engaging image ... hence the 'sharp Ducky' preoccupation   If someone can't manage a good shot with a Nikon, Sony, Sigma, Olympus, P&S then they suck with any camera.
So, to me at least, a preocupation with brand and features and 'mine is bigger/faster/brighter/less noisy than yours' usually means just one thing ... the other stuff is lacking. That doesn't apply to anyone specifically. Just an observation.
From that t-shirt he looks like he might smell too.

Yeah, the fact that a lot of people love their Nikons. The fact that you probably disagree with their reasons for liking them is inconsequential.
I'm sure if you hung out on the Nikon forum, you'd hear plenty of people talking about what they think is great about their chosen brand.
Bottom line is that the "rivalry" is completely mindless...

I don't hate other brands...I just don't favor them. Not because I bought them, but that's why I bought them. I wanted low noise, better long lenses, and I was already used to Canon cameras, and liked them.
I wasn't being sarcastic about it. I really wondered if there was any big points I had missed that Nikon had over Canon. I was truly interested. I don't disagree with their reasons; I just don't care. I've found something I love, and I'm sticking with it.

Understood, Dave. However, I'm sure something other than price affected why you chose Canon. I doubt you went into a store and said "gimme the first camera you come across".
by the way, I've yet to take a picture of a duck. Geese, yes, but no ducks.

I had a Sigma SA5 SLR when I was in Africa, with a long prime and a couple of zooms. Did a great job, so when I was after a DSLR I wanted the Sigma SD9, which at the time had great reviews (still does). Anyway, too pricey so I went and tried the Nikon D70 and the Canon 300D. Preferred the Nikon from a handling and build POV. Canon was quite a bit cheaper so I bought it. Handling was OK. The wife still has the SA5 and Sigma lenses.
I'd like to try the new Sigma SD14 in October. Sigma DSLR image quality is really very nice indeed. They have all the lenses I need. I wouldn't mind the new Pentax K1000D for use with my Pentax lenses. I'd probably be happiest with the Leica DSLR but it's not out yet and it'll be pricey.
High ISO is pointless for me, so is buffer crap and all that stuff. Best DSLR depends on needs. It's not as clear cut as you want to you make out. We're all different.

It is the photography and the photos, not the gear. Sure most of us may own Canon here, but that is really a choice. Does it really make use better photographers, or in any way better?

I don't know if I would wear a tee with that on it, but I would wear one that says "I love my Camera." :) ;)

I'd like one like the "I Love N Y" (with the heart) that says I Love B&H.

My only complaint between the two is I don't like the grip, on cameras like the d100, d200. But I'd still use it. Im sure just take some getting used to, and I could do it just fine.
Used Nikon D1H's the majority of the time and D200's recently. Very capable and feature rich.

I have. For 5 years.
I use Canon now but I will be shooting for my local univ paper and they only have Nikon equip. Point is theres nothing wrong with the camera if you learn to use it properly. I'm not going to whine to the paper for having Nikon equipment and tell them to switch to Canon.

I laughed when I saw the photo. Then I read the rest of the tread. It is not like wearing a shirt that says "Ford" sucks. Photogs - Pros or Hobbist - are a smaller group than the masses. No point is being blaintly rude. Lord M's experience is a lesson to be learned, I guess. I have an aquaitence that shoots Nikon and he thinks his sh!t don't stink (and it does). Then I have a friend that is acutually a Trainer in the Nikon organization. He and I often AIM about photos lens etc. He has been helpful to me about techniques and even Canon products. Just because you own a Porsche doesn't mean I can't beat you with my Nissan. :)

Competition is good for the consumer. It keeps companies on their toes and coming out with new and better products. Usually it doesn't matter which side you are on as one company will come out with a product that tops the competition only to be bested by another company 6 months later.
... unless you buy into something that is so proprietary that even third-party companies won't touch it. (i.e. betamax)

Reminds me of a shirt I saw someone wearing once: "I would rather push my Chevy than drive a Ford".
The guy standing next to him had a shirt that said "He'll probably get that chance"...
