I've noticed in Manual mode on my 300D (DRebel) that in some lighting situations it will let me use 5.6 as the lowest aperture, and in other situations 4.0 and in others 3.5. I'm not sure why it would lock me out of some settings at certain lighting situations, especially in manual mode. I looked through the manual, no info there. Has anyone else seen this?

(I'm a rookie, be gentle if its something simple) =)

I think this is probably because the lens you are using has a variable minimum aperture. For instance, at 18mm it has a minimum aperture of 3.5 but at 55mm it might be f 5.6. You did not say what lens you were using abd that would help

Thanks Clatk~ That is it, I never realized that it depends on the zoom. And It is the kit lens 18-55m, f3.5-5.6.
Thanks again =)
