I have heard several rumors about Canon is going to finally coming out with a replacement. Has anyone heard about this? Anyone with more detail info? Ben

This rumor has been floating around for years. It just seems to gain new life twice a year, just before Photokina and then again before PMA every year. I wouldn't put too much stock into it.

As Canon have just annopunced the release of a 50mm f/1.2 L and a 70-200 f/4 IS L - I think it's safe to guess that there won't be any more announcements for a while!
Pity though - it was a really nice lens.

You may be right, but Canon might be saving some more announcements for Photokina. . .
