The function dial top fell off my 10D (the part with the labels for function modes) and is lost. Anyone know where I can grab another one without having to send my camera in for repair?

Short of you prying it off with a screwdriver, this would almost certainly be covered by
the Canon warranty. Why not let Canon put it back on correctly?

correctly? they didn't get it right the first time :) i'd much rather fix it myself than give up my camera for a while to have it repaired.
I'll try to call canon... thanks guys!

This just sucks... I either have to send the camera in and sacrifice photography for God-knows-how-long or buy the whole top cover because the part isn't listed seperately! This is nuts.
If the part isn't listed seperately then it shouldn't have broken off. ARGH!
I'm a dissatisfied customer.

Bummer. Too bad it got lost. Well, looks like it's time to just grit your teeth and send it in. Now would be a good time if you can without it as everyone has already got their back from their yearly holiday tune-up. It'll probably only take just over a week, including shipping (depending on where you live).
I would, however re-classify yourself as a disappointed customer. Now if they told you they wouldn't fix it, then you would be dissatisfied. If it takes 2-3 times to have the camera properly repaired (not uncommon with CFS), then you would be very dissatisfied.
I wish you luck.

The camera is usable the way it is, right? I'd just tough it out through the holidays and then send it in when it's more convenient for you. If it's just a matter of figuring out where the dial is set, you should be able to do that without any trouble. Just refer to the manual and count clicks.
Good luck.
