What advantages does having the 10D's circular quick control dial have over the 300D's 4 way Cross Keys?

If I had to guess, I would guess that the continuous dial of the 10D and D60 had a higher component cost than the four-button thing on the 300D. I think I prefer the ergonomics of the dial.

Beginners, who might be coming from the digital point and shoot world, are probably more familiar with buttons.

The DIAL - don't have to look down. Much much better.

Even without looking, you can just place the thumb on the dial and start turning in the appropriate direction to change your settings. Nothing can be simpler or quicker than that.

With the buttons, if you're not looking at it, you have to feel for which button you need before you can press it.
