i just got this camera yesterday and i am so horrified by the amount of redeye trouble it has... i didnt even know you could get redeye from any eyeball in the pic no matter where it is or which direction it is facing... i got this camera mostly for taking pics of people at social events... wondering if i need to send it back :( here are some examples of what im talking about...
these were all taken in auto mode out of the box... i suppose maybe redeye flash might help but im doubtful.. what do you guys think?

There is nothing wrong with your camera. It is mere physics that you got red eyes scattered through the photo.
Red eye is due to some light entering the eye, bouncing off the retina, coming out, and striking the camera sensor. The light source need not be your flash (though usually is) It could be those lights that the kids are holding.
Also, when exited, humans eyes open up. These kids are in the dark, holding lights, they're likely 'pumped up'.
Children and blue eyes are also more prone to red eye then adults or brown eyes...
This photo setup is unlikely to ever be without red eye.
Now for some math: For every two feet of distance between your camera and your subject, you need one inch between your camera lens and flash centers to stay clear of red eye. So if you want to take photos of people ten feet away, you flash must be 5 inches away from your lens. Anyone thinking SLR and not point and shoot? With a compact camera with the flash near the lens, expect the occasional red eyes.

oh god...the devil's children are attacking!!!
I never had problems with my A80 untill I took pictures at my friends party(indoor, low-light)and every picture had at least one person with red-eye.

Animals get the occasional red eyes too, though, more often, they just get very brilliant eyes.
I shot a picture of my dogs in almost darkness, past dusk, just seeing a sketched silhouhette, and one of them shows very brilliant eyes. I actually like the picture for the effect it creates, kind of "hound of Baskerville" :))

Actually, green eyes effect...... reminds me of an Amaral song
"Será el champagne, será el color de tus ojos verdes
De ciencia ficción,
La última cena para los dos
Pero esta noche morirÃ*a por vos ;) ;)

can anyone tell me how to fix this problem with a slave flash??? (if thats even what its called)
Ive seen a post here or somewhere else and the person indicated you can get and aftermarket flash and attach it to the camera to move the flash higher and reduce red eye. I have a Canon A70.
Would appreciate someone telling me (with links) a good flash set up and how to attach it and get it to work. I get at least half my pictures with red eye, and frankly am tired of fixing it in editing. For a $300 camera I really expected more.
On a regular film point and shoot, Ive had some real cheapos that didnt produce this much redeye.
