I went to Blackpool for the start of the world fireworks championship last night. The event in on each weekend for 4 weeks.
This is my very first attempt at shooting fireworks, it was a very windy night, and was much harder than I expected it to be. I guess I have to back over the few weeks and try to get better shots.

Love the fireworks - I would like to know what shutter speed you used. My guess is 1/2 sec to 2 secs.
The tower shot is a bit of a compromise - I suspect the aperture is quite large and this has rendered the lights as blobs. A smaller aperture (say f22) would have turned them into stars. Of course the shutter speed would have to have been much longer - that might have resulted in quite a nice blurring of the car lights etc.

Thanks for the comments.
For some reason the photos are double posted in the first tread.
I set my camera to f8 and before the event set the focus to the distance I guessed the fireworks would be.
Then I used the bulb setting in manual mode and just keep the shutter open for as long a each burst took, this did indeed turn out to be 1 to 2 seconds and I think next time I just set the camera to a 2 second shot.
Thanks for the input on the tower shot, I did this hand held but will take your advice next time ( maybe this Friday) and use a tripod and f22.

Keep everything running and hold a black card in front of the lens and every time a firework goes off, take your card off the lens and put it back on after the fw is gone.

Nice firework shots - I need loads of practice at this!! Wish I could be there next weekend, instead of here watching a possible hurricane heading in our general direction!(Florence this time, although it looks like it may go north of us - praying for it to go out to sea and fizzle out).
