Hello everyone, this is my first post to this forum. I have been getting more into sports related photography and here are a few from yesterday (can you call Go-Karts a sport?). I find that the action and speed helps keep me on my toes and is far more challenging than my normal subjects. Plus I love riding around looking for something fast to shoot.
C&C appreciated!

Sure you can call it a sport... I am very surprised to see these guys in karts with no head protection though!

Glenn, I did search for other Karting photos and I now see what you mean about protection.. I dont think the ones around here are anywhere near as fast. I'm in a resort town this week and these karts anyone can ride, even small children. They're not the quickest, but I sure did have a blast shooting them.
Thanks for the comment!

The smooth concrete makes it fun :)
Nothing like squealing tyres to make you feel like Ayrton :D

even the slowes ones here make you wear a helmet, doenst take much of a hit to cause permanent damage, plus i think insurence companies would force them into it

I can't believe no helmets. I would trade a seatbelt for a helmet any day in a go-kart.

good stuff. I'd slow the shutter a tad as to make the wheels to appear to have motion. 160-250 seems to work ok, even between 70-200 mm.
Good stuff!

Good god... no rollcage on the kart in second shot and no helmets on any of them! I've only ever been on karts which require both (though we did get up to 80km/hr) - no way would I feel safe without either. Nice shots :) Damn good fun, those things, and loads of fun to shoot :)

I seem to recognize that go kart track as being in OC Maryland off of Rt 50. As for the go karts themselves, the last picture is of slick track racing on a very small oval track with a top speed of maybe 15-20 mph with no chance of flipping over. I like the pictures too.

They are very funny looking go karts. But I gather they are fun resort type things.
Not designed for professional racing.
