Hey guys... i'm in need of some help/information/advice. earlier this year, when the canon rebel ti came out, i bought it in a rush. when i did, it came with two lenses. both of them tamron. the AF 75-300mm is a Macro(1:3:9) i am planning on using this with my new digitial rebel.

however, my question is: how do i use the special macro features? i'm a beginer and i'm not really sure about the macro part. so if you guys could please tell me if i have to do something special it would be great!

THANKS

nothing special to do. The macro feature shortens you minimum focus distance. For instance (and I am guessing on the actual distances here) with a regular 75-300 lens the closest you can be to an object and be able to focus on it is 24 inches (remember, I am guessing). With the 75-300 macro lens you can be 3 inches from the object and focus on it.

Hope this helps!

ok, my next question is this. i have a 75-300mm tamron lense. the macro is (1:3:9) and the minimum focus distance is 1.5 meters. now, how do i know if it is a TRUE macro lense? i know i can't focus anywhere close to me. any ideas on how i would do it? i'm running the digital canon rebel?

It isn't a "true" macro lens.

Although the term itself, "macro" is actually used incorrectly,. the common use of "true macro" refers to a lens that offers 1:1 magnification ratio.
