I'm interested in buying a D30 and I see several places sell the gray market or international version. I know that buying the intl version means I get no factory warranty, but is there anything else different between the two? Is there any difference in the accessories packaged with it? Or is the software different or unusable?

Does anyone here have any experience with a gray market version?

Several places sell them much cheaper than the US version and even buying a separate extended warranty is still cheaper by quite a lot, so I'm just wondering, what else could be wrong?

Thanks in advance,
Bruce

I bought mine in a duty free shop in Heathrow last Spring; it is a "UK" camera. From a software, firmware point of view there is not practical difference between the cameras. I don't use the Canon software and the firmware is freely upgradable from the internet. The battery charger works on all voltages; the plug is different which is easy to fix.

The TV output is programable within the camera for either PAL and NTSC.

I don't think there is any issue with buying a D30 from anywhere for anywhere beyond the support and guarantees that may be provided.

I bought mine D30 from Delta International.
It works fine and it looks the same as american one.
All accessories are the same, but I heard that in
american version embedded flash doesn't popup
automatically in simple mode, but I am not sure.
I still don't know about international warranty,
but I heard it is possible to use one in states.
